Assistant Store Manager Charged for Alleged Corruption Offences

On 21 December 2022, Muhammad Hasri Bin Mohd Sumanteri (“Hasri”) (31-year-old male Singaporean), an Assistant Store Manager of AW LAB Singapore at the material time, was charged in Court for allegedly committing corruption offences.

2. Sometime between 10 September and 15 September 2020, on two occasions, Hasri was alleged to have corruptly accepted gratifications totalling S$1,700 from Chen Jingwei (“Chen”), as a reward to reserve limited-edition sneaker shoes on behalf of Chen. For his actions, Hasri faces one amalgamated charge under Section 124(4) of the Criminal Procedure Code, punishable under Section 6(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

3. Singapore adopts a strict zero-tolerance approach towards corruption. Any person who is convicted of a corruption offence under Section 6 of the Prevention of Corruption Act can be fined up to S$100,000 or sentenced to imprisonment of up to five years or both.
